Chelsea Morley | Founder & Creative Director of Tiny Disco

We recently welcomed Chelsea and Stu Morley, the founders of iconic Melbourne creative agency Tiny Disco in to MECCA with their children, Arthur and Audrey. We chatted to Chelsea about running the business, investing in wardrobe essentials and how the MECCA Impression experience became a gift in itself.

1. Let’s play favourite! Tell us your fave-

Cocktail - Has to be a margarita with loads of salt (no premixed cocktails allowed though - my favourite is made by my husband, Stu)
Book - this is hard for me - I devour books (eep) The one that moved me most recently is On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
Podcast - I’m deep into Call Her Daddy at the moment. It’s trashy and sometimes cringe (and I can’t listen to it when the kids are around) but by god has Alex Cooper built an empire and safe space for women. I LOVE it.
Holiday Destination - My parent’s house in Ocean Grove. They moved there a bit over a year ago and it feels like our second home.
Season - Summer for sure

2. What is your favourite thing about running Tiny Disco?

It’s little things - meeting incredible people, making incredible work and the team behind it all.

3. Here at Linden Cook, we are all about investing in long term quality pieces that will last through the seasons. What are some of your everyday wardrobe essentials?

This year I’m really trying to stop myself buying any more quick fix fast fashion pieces. (Vestiaire Collective just did an amazing piece on the cost per wear of designer versus fast fashion - it’s amazing). Everyday for me is loafers (my absolute favourite purchase are my Prada ones), a good pair of jeans, tank tops and simple gold jewellery. Also, I’ve found an oversized blazer (vintage only!) literally works for any occasion. I even wear them to my kids sporting matches.

4. Do you have any advice on where to start when building your own collection?

Understand what you like to wear.  For many years I just didn’t wear earrings because I hated wearing them but once I found a pair of simple gold hoops it changes the game. I’m more of a minimalist so prefer to keep it simple when it comes to jewellery. Now that I’m in my late 30s it’s more about sentimental pieces. I tear up when I think about my children’s fingerprints on my Impression necklace - it makes every day so special wearing it (and I’ve recommended it as a gift to SO many people).

5. What benefit do you think the MECCA Impressions experience gave your finished Impression piece?

Honestly, the experience was incredible and really made it. We went it on a Friday afternoon and the kids were so buzzed - it was so special watching them put their fingerprints down - the team were so kind and calm with them. We made a night of it and went out to get dumplings afterwards - the in store experience already felt like so much of the gift. Then, the excitement that built around the arrival of the finished pieces was magical. I am 100% sure that these pieces (my husband has the ring with our entire family’s fingerprints on it) will live on in our family forever and be passed down to our children in years to come.
