Jacqueline Nguyen | Jeweller

Jacqueline Nguyen | Jeweller

Meet Jacqui, the creator of the stunning diamond ring featured on @lindencook and one of the talented artisan jewellers here at Linden Cook Jewellery. Jacqui began working for us in July 2020 and quickly became a special part of our work family.

What did you study

I initially completed a BA in communications design (graphic design) but after a year or so into the industry - I realised creating digitally was not as rewarding or fulfilling as I hoped it would be.

How did you get into jewellery / why did you choose it

When thinking about my next step - I wanted to combine my knowledge in design and interest in fashion and this resulted in me choosing to do a 2 year course in jewellery and object design and have never looked back since.

If you were not a jeweller, what would you be doing?

I’ve always known that I want to be in a creative role and to be working with my hands, so if it was not for my love for all things shiny and sparkly - I would have probably gone down the route of pottery/ceramics as I love collecting different ceramics. That’s probably my retirement plan when I get old!!

Favourite thing about working with Linden Cook

Working as a jeweller can often be solitary so being able to work in a team with other jewellers has been extremely rewarding, collaborating together and learning from one another but most of all - having a laugh everyday!!

Favourite piece you have ever created

Ellie (our studio manager) commissioned me to make a bespoke ring for her 30th birthday as a present to herself using a family diamond that was passed down to her. It’s always very special when working with gemstones that have sentimental value and I always feel very honoured giving old jewellery/gemstones a new life for it’s owner.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

As cliché as it sounds - do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.

What inspires you?

Right now I am obsessed with ancient Egyptian and Estruscan jewellery! The craftsmanship and detail that jewellers were able to accomplish back then is nothing short of amazing.
