"My favourite thing about Cam is the way he wrapped his arms around me and held me, how he kissed my forehead and told me he loved me. Every single day."
When 33 year old Cameron was killed suddenly on a motorbike trip in September 2022, the lives of his longterm partner Natalie and their two young children were turned inside out. We were honoured to be able to help Natalie create impressions of Cam's fingerprint and give her a physical reminder of the life they once lived.
Who's print is on your Impression pieces and why are they special to you?
Our pieces feature my late partner, Cam’s print. The bracelet I wear everyday and it has Cams print on one side and his handwriting on the other. Cam called me darling. Always. Darling. So I scanned one of the cards he had written me over the past 14 years and picked out the word darling as well as two kisses.
My second piece is super special as it has cams print on the front and mine on the back. Mia held my finger and the silicone wax imprint we have of Cam's finger together with the wax in between. Just as though we had done it together. I hold it often and both of my kids love holding and kissing the pendant too.
My brother in law drew got a laser print on a signet ring, and his fiancé Kelly, also got a ring but an organic print.
Cams mum, Joh, is also wanting a ring.
Can you tell us how you came to make these pieces?
Cam died suddenly, and it was a few days prior to his funeral when we had the idea to get his prints taken. I have told everyone. It’s the best thing we did, as we have these prints and now these organic pieces, forever.
What was your favourite thing about Cam?
Cam was the literally the friendliest, happiest and most genuine guy you would ever meet. A gentle giant. My favourite thing is the way he wrapped his arms around me and held me, how he kissed my forehead and told me he loved me. Every single day. He was also the best father to our two babies Tommy (4) and Billie (2).
Can you tell us a little more about yours and Cam's relationship?
We met at university in 2007, both studying a double degree in engineering and commerce and started dating a couple of years later. We moved in together in 2012 and have lived together ever since. In 2018 we had our first child, Thomas and in 2020 we had our little princess, Billie. Cam's death has been so traumatic for both of the children and I’m doing everything I can to keep his memory alive.
How did you find the process of making the Impression pieces?
As we had a silicone mould, making the impression pieces was different for all parties. Going into the studio was such a personal and emotional experience. We weren’t at all rushed and the Linden Cook team were so lovely.
